Why playing Bach?

Bach had fathered 20 children and (we don't know it, but ...) I think he was a good father teaching his children with his own compositions. During the Bach family's time in Leipzig, Anna Magdalena (J S Bach's 2nd wife) organized regular musical evenings featuring the whole family playing and singing together with visiting friends. Bach wrote a number of compositions dedicated to her, most notably the 2 "Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach." The Bach house became a musical centre in Leipzig Germany.

In my lessons I present Bach's Baroque Music with it's polyphonic style of composition and because it is playable for beginners and intermediate skill level. Bach also was one of the first musicians to recognize the break through advantages of the temperament piano tuning of modern western music.

What is so great with polyphony? Polyphony is the complete equality of two melodies, the complete equality of left and right hand in a composition like the Inventions of the "Das Wohltemperierte Klavier, Book 1 and Book 2," it's equality to perfection.

One of my most favorite songs and well know to everybody is the tune "Bourrée in E minor" from the fifth lute Suite movement in E minor for, BWV 996, made famos by Jethro Tull .    Bourree-ZIP-Mus-File-Flute-Bass.
